WELCOME TO A SHITTY JAMJAR-ESQUE PSL STARTER

Good morning! Have a shrill alarm followed by an almost robotic voice on repeat. "If you have seen the pilot of Omega Res Novae..." "Security Breach. Please enter the administrator passcode at a designated command terminal." is the bland phrase that is being repeated at 60 second intervals.

Sure, you're probably confused. After all, you've somehow been deposited in a sterile metal room, in an (albeit comfortable) completely plain bunk. But, there's little time to get your bearings. That alarm will probably drive you insane before long, and it isn't likely that you'll stop it on your own. It should compel you toward the door, which opens automatically into a metal hallway. On one side there are numbered doors identical to the one you've just exited. On the other? Windows! Because some benevolent creator wanted to let you immediately see that you are stuck on an archaic space station.

There is a metal ring (where you currently are), surrounding a clear dome that is accessible by two large corridors. There seems to be greenery inside of the dome. Not, that it matters, since those access points seem kind of far.

On the bright side though, there is a hangar somewhere along the ring! And it has one of those handy command terminals right outside of it too.

[ In front of one of the random command consoles, there appears to be a pile of dingy brown rags. The screen of the console seems to be going haywire, and between glitches, a strange language spills across the screen. Some of the characters would probably seem familiar to anyone knowing Federation Standard, but they don't seem to spell out anything that makes sense. Though, after a moment or two the alarms thankfully stop.

Will you investigate the console or ragpile? y/n?

Margulis | Airlocked CRAU

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-05-07 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
The first thing Margulis thinks when he wakes up to the sound of a security breach alarm is that maybe the survivors have managed to rescue him and his fellow 'dead'. That thought is quickly dashed when he opens his eyes and sees he's alone, and a pulse of worry-bordering on outright fear-jolts through him. Automatically, he moves to check the screen embedded in his arm, but the PIP is dead and blank. Small favors, he supposes...as long as it isn't still suppressing his Ethers, and doesn't have anything to do with the pressure in his head.

The pressure that that infernal alarm isn't helping with. Satisfied that this probably isn't the Benefactors' fault, he stands up from the bed he woke in and stalks out the door, brushing his loose hair back from his face as he does so. His first priority, of course, is looking to see if there's anyone else here, familiar or not. If this is another murder experiment, he'll need to know his potential allies and threats. If not...he still needs to know if he's stuck here alone. And maybe someone else here has half a clue of where they are...

Margulis | Alternately, multi-CRAU!

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-05-07 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
This Margulis reacts somewhat differently than his less multiversally-experienced counterpart would. The security alarm wakes him with a jolt, but the first thing he notices is that he's human again. Well, mostly human. He can feel equine ears still turning and flicking in place of his human ears and the magical focus of his horn is even more obvious than its weight, but those aren't of concern. He's bipedal again, with proper hands instead of hooves that inexplicably hold things.

The first thing he checks when he sits up is if Reuben is still there. It's not, but Amavasya and his blade from Prospero still hang in their usual positions at his sides...along with the various throwing knives he kept hidden in various places under his silk longcoat from the past of Exsilium. It'll do, especially with Paschar's presence still tangible in the back of his mind. That established, he heads for the door, looking for a source of that droning alarm as his ears alternate between perking forward in caution and flicking back in annoyance. It just figures that none of these dimensional transitions can be simple...

Sorry, your half a clue is in another castle. Would a familiar face suffice? Because there's one, whirling away from one of the windows to face him. Surprise though, she looks absolutely livid with just a hint of completely confused.

"Margulis?!"

As luck would have it, the force that brought her to this station neglected to scoop up any of her weapons along the way. Having a glaive in hand would be a comfort, but ethers work too. She raises a hand, silently threatening to discharge one at him if he gives her even the tiniest reason.

"Is this your doing?!" She ends up yelling over the next wave of security warnings.

And he's the one least likely to figure out AU shenanigans quickly...

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-05-07 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
He didn't have any weapons to bring with him, the Benefactors saw to that. He doesn't even have his longcoat, instead dressed in a drab, off white jumpsuit that fits so tightly it must have been made specifically for him. But still, beyond the wardrobe change, the uncharacteristic lack of weaponry and the screen that seems to be embedded into his left arm, there's no mistaking his identity. There's also no mistaking the surprise and confusion on his face when she turns and aims an Ether at him, though by sheer reflex he readies himself to dodge.

"What makes you think I have any hand in this situation? Even if I knew what this place was, I've no reason to turn upon you, nor any of our people save for one."

Despite the expectations most people would have of him, chaos actually woke with a start when the shrill alarm interrupted his sleep and shredded through his dreams. As he sat up, he quickly tried to get his bearings, a serious, uncertain look on his face. Not only was the alarm and message serious, but..this was not his cabin in the Elsa. Nor did he seem to be anywhere he knew, given the fact that he didn't sense anyone familiar or in places that they should have been.

Given that the situation was already dire and that there were precious few-if any-people that could kidnap him and move him to point a to point b without his knowledge, he quickly rushed out of the room, ignoring his muscles as they protested the sudden movement, wanting a good after-sleep stretch, and started searching the rooms down the hallway, once he saw exactly what lay beyond the door, looking for both the command terminal and the password he'd need to implement it, along with answers as to what was going on here.

[How much attention are you paying, Shion? Because a certain someone who always seems to be hard to notice is coming up behind you, half limping from the pain of moving now that the adrenaline of escaping Michtam has worn off.]

Oh...you're stuck here too?

Thankfully, chaos would sense Margulis coming out just in time to stop himself from running into him, but..upon seeing the change in Margulis, the horse ears and the unicorn horn, which seemed to carry some form of power (unless he was mistaken about it, which he doubted he was), he simply froze, a semi-humorous smile threatening to spread across his face despite the situation, though he forced himself to smush it down, to make it simply look polite.

..How successful he was was up in the air, however. At the very least, he tried not to let any of his incredulity slip into his voice.

"I hadn't expected to see you here, Margulis. But what happened to you? I don't recall you having horse ears and a unicorn horn the last time I saw you. Did the people here force them on you for some reason?"

She actually raises an eyebrow at his reaction. She's very familiar with his tactical arsenal, and this doesn't seem right at all. And to go to such lengths to lie about his allegiances? Still, given the state of reality itself in recent months, she's not going to let her guard down so quickly.

"I truly wish I could accept your words. But, I can't. If you speak the truth, then I am sorry. I will not freely give trust to a man who has attempted to turn the entire world against me."

He remembered chaos, both from Old Miltia (both times) and, briefly, Prospero. He was a friend of Uzuki's, though he didn't know much else about him. That was enough to react to him with caution, ears sweeping back warily.

"No, it's a side effect of where I was before I arrived here. You might find the imagery amusing, but the horn has its uses."

[Eventually, having gone into every room he could find without managing to obtain either answers or a passcode to input into the terminal and stop that annoying alarm, chaos managed to come across Shion, and while it was pretty obvious what she was doing, it..wasn't so obvious what time she was from. The Shion he knew had long hair, different clothes, and still wore her glasses. Either this Shion was from a future point in time or some other Recurrence altogether. Or universe.

Either way though, he approached her with a relieved look on his face, happy to see a friendly, familiar face here, regardless of what the circumstances were. Even if that joy didn't mean he was happy about the present situation.]

Shion! I'm glad to see you here. Do you need any help? I don't exactly know how these consoles are wired, but it should go faster with two people.

Between the weeks of learning to allow himself more of his emotions, the headache he's had since he awoke, and the strangeness of this encounter, his expression at her accusation is clearly perplexed. His last conversation with Pellegri had been tense, it was true, but trying to turn the world against her?

"I've done nothing of the sort. What lies has Heinlein perpetuated in my absence to give you an impression of that sort?"
lightofhumanity: For when chaos is asking something. (asking)

Thankfully, chaos had interacted with enough horses in his long life that he was able to read Margulis's new body language, and while he wasn't sure whether or not Margulis would appreciate it, he put up both his hands for a moment, just to show that he didn't mean Margulis any harm. Incredulity and humor aside, he wasn't Margulis's foe at the moment. The bigger mystery was who had dragged them all here and what was going on now.

..Along with where exactly Margulis was, where he had had horse ears and a unicorn horn added to his form.

"It seems like it would, though what, you would know better than I would. But where were you before you arrived here? I didn't think you were the kind of person who would be interested in having a horse ears and a unicorn horn."

Smile aside, chaos's question was perfectly serious. And no, he wasn't going to deny finding some humor in seeing a semi-unicorn Margulis.

The gesture of peace at least got his ears to relax somewhat, although they flicked in irritation that matched his expression. He couldn't deny that he would've been amused to find Kukai with a similar appearance were he fully human, but he'd never claimed his sense of humor didn't come at the expense of others.

"An alternate universe, populated primarily by mythological creatures. Humans don't exist in that world, so outsiders there had their forms altered to those of native creatures."

[He's still not quite used to this sort of gesture from Shion, but the seriousness of the situation drowns out any awkwardness or embarrassment. He closes his hand around hers and shakes his head slightly.]

We're in this situation together, of course I'll help. It looks worse than it is, anyway. Besides...

[He glances up at where the announcement is coming from.]

Maybe between the two of us, we can at least figure out how to shut that off before it gives us both a headache.
lightofhumanity: (This isn't good..)

[personal profile] lightofhumanity 2017-05-07 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
And with that bit of information, the grin would just slip off chaos's face once more, since..while he believed Margulis (he had no reason to create a lie as big as this just to hide some embarrassing body and Ether (maybe) modifications), his explanation just opened up another can of worms. And there was still no fish in sight to catch them with.

"But who or what managed to pull you into that world? Do you think that they might be responsible for pulling us all here for some reason?"
temptestament: Masked (I can't tell you who I am yet.)

Allen | Testament AU

[personal profile] temptestament 2017-05-07 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
There's several things Allen notices as wrong when he wakes up. The first being, he's waking up. He doesn't even know if he should be able to sleep, seeing as he hasn't tried since he died. The second is that this isn't the recreation of Old Miltia, his supernatural senses tell him this is Real Space. The third is that he's laying on top of the bed, rather than floating in the air roughly even with its surface. All these taken together mean something is very wrong, and the Brown Testament already has his crossbow in hand (far too heavy looking to be one handed, but carried that way anyway) by the time he gets to his feet. Honestly, he's not sure what it could do against something powerful enough to abduct a Testament, but it comforts him to have something other than his powers to fall back on if he runs into someone hostile.

Those in the hallways likely won't hear his footsteps over the security alarm as he ghosts through the station, hood and mask in place and senses on alert. He doesn't bother with any of the doors, he can already sense if anyone's behind them or not, but he does make his way around the ring. Maybe, he hopes, he can at least find some way to make that repetitive message stop.

"Heinlein?"

Now that causes her to drop her threat of ethers. There was no more Heinlein, no more Ormus. At least, no longer by those names.

"I have not heard that name in what seems like forever. But, if he is still your concern, then something has changed. However, if this is a ruse I will not hesitate to defend myself."
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-05-07 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
"She called herself Calice." His ears flick back again before returning upright, and his voice carries a tone of frustrated disdain. "From the evidence we were able to gather, she was an alternate version of one of that world's princesses. It's ruled by a rare breed of equine that has magic that puts even that of a goddess I know to shame. I've no doubt she, or any alicorn, could have accomplished this, but it doesn't fit with her motives. Most likely it's some other force or being...the multiverse seems to have enough of them with the capability to reach across dimensions."
misplacedxsheath: (The weight of these truths...)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-05-07 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
"We spoke regarding him only days before my abduction, even the events I suffered doesn't make a mere two months seem as though it were forever."

Unless...the Doctor had mentioned time travel, hadn't he? Was it possible she was from the future? But no, that still wouldn't make sense of what she was saying. According to his current plan, he would have simply left for McBurn's world after making certain Heinlein wouldn't manipulate Ormus any further. there was no reason anything he intended would make her see him as an enemy, unless she truly refused to accept that Heinlein was deceiving them.

"Nothing you've said thus far makes sense with what I recall. What could have transpired to leave us in such opposition that you regard me as a threat?"

[ How lucky indeed, when one of those lost souls has been wandering the corridors for some time now and rounds a corner at just the right time. It's as though it's fate. Jin stops dead when he sees her, bewildered, shoulder aching, thigh aching, heart aching, unable to understand how just before has become right now.

Of all people. Really.

And already the walls have started coming back up, strong and stubborn as ever after he'd torn them down so savagely at Zarathustra's collapsing doorstep. His steps are nearly silent underneath the irritating klaxon as he approaches, pondering all the while how he ought to announce his presence. Not just in the room, after all, but in... well, life. If this is life at all.

As eschatologies go, this is not a particularly splendid interpretation of the world to come. Somehow he's got the feeling that this wasn't exactly what chaos had in mind.

For lack of a better plan Jin just clears his throat, already resolved to give her the most incredible scolding if he finds out she died too. ]
